A native of Marion, S.C., Hallie Covington graduated in 1907 from the College for Women, Columbia, S.C., and received a master's degree in religious education from the Biblical Seminary of New York in 1936. Between 1917 and 1941 she served as a foreign missionary to Korea under sponsorship of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, with the exception of two furloughs when she returned to the United States.
