Clippings date 1948 to 2018 and contain general clippings relating to Shorey’s political activities and career, articles collected by Shorey relating to the Beaufort Board of Elections and Voter Registration, and materials relating to the South Carolina Republican Party. The papers consist entirely of photographic prints of public figures taken by Mauldin during his years as a political reporter. Most of the identifying information was provided by Mr. Mauldin on the reverse of the photos.

The J. Drake Edens Papers consist of one linear foot of material, chiefly correspondence. Also included is a copy of a 28 page paper, Dec. 1979, on Edens’ role in the Republican Party, written by his daughter Jenny Edens Padgett, for her USC class on Contemporary South Carolina. A significant portion of the correspondence relates to Edens’ efforts with Richard M. Nixon’s 1968 presidential campaign.
