Biographical / Historical

Rhoda Broughton was a late Victorian novelist whose popular stories featured strong, independent young women. Her best-selling novels were considered risqué, although her conclusions would be considered moralistic by modern standards. She was extremely prolific and her close management of her career is evidenced in her correspondence with her publisher, Richard Bentley.
