Maurice Sendak and Leroy Richmond collection of correspondence
The Maurice Sendak Archive contains letters, illustrations and other items created by Maurice Sendak (1928-2012) and sent to his friend, Leroy “Eero” Richmond. Sendak was an American Children's book author and illustrator best known for Caldecott Medal Winners, "Where the Wild Things Are" and "In the Night Kitchen."
Items include: two signed original small drawings; ten signed handwritten letters; seven signed postcards; ten greeting cards; one inscribed book with an original sketch; one signed publicity still; one signed dust jacket; one signed piece of paper with Sendak's name and address. All items with bracketed dates are dated via postage stamp on the envelope of the item.
