National Media Literacy Conference collection
Nye family home movies collection
Collection consists of 34 home movies donated by Doug Nye, shot by his father, Everett Francis Nye, 1940s to 1970s. Films feature the family on vacations and at home and show Doug and his sister Nelle, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Everett Nye, and their family and friends. Many films of the children from birth through school and graduation and films of their own families.
The films are silent 16mm, both color and black and white. Some are in advanced stages of decomposition.
Olin E. Gambrell collection
A collection of home movies and high school football films taken by Olin E. Gambrell of Honea Path, SC. The home movies shot by Mr. Gambrell include his family in Honea Path, the birth and birthdays of his children, family gatherings at Easter time, and footage from his army days, including his time stationed in Vietnam. All footage is shot on 8mm and Super 8mm film stock.
Paul Rubenstein collection
This collection of 247 films is eclectic. It includes news footage, home movies, prints of major Hollywood productions, Castle films, Castle film distribution catalogs, and equipment. The bulk of the collection (137,125 feet) is on 16mm; a subset (1,642 feet) is on 35mm.
Phelps sisters collection
Gifted to the University in 1992 by Stephanie Wilds, this collection comprises approximately five hours of material (1,900 feet of b&w 35mm film, 17,300 feet of b&w 16mm film, and 50' of color 16mm film). Their movies document their active social lives, both at home and abroad.
Post family home movies collection
This home movie collection contains approximately 4,800 feet of color and black and white 16mm film shot between 1927 and 1957. The 12 films are believed to be the home movies of the Post family of Aiken, South Carolina, who founded the Aiken Training Track. Much of the footage features equestrian activities such as horse racing and polo, and also includes footage of a vacation with Will Rogers.
Redfern collection
Collection contains one black and white silent 16mm film of an expedition into the jungles of British Guiana, led by Edward Sill, with his friend Arthur J. Williams as cameraman, to look for the Columbia, South Carolina aviator Paul Redfern, who disappeared on a pioneering solo flight from the US to Rio de Janeiro in 1927.

Rice family home movies collection
Approximately 1,050 feet of 8mm color home movies shot by Spencer Rice, Sr. in the 1950s and 1960s, and by Spencer Rice, Jr. in the 1970s.
Rod Gragg home movies
Home movie footage from 1958-1986 of the Carolinas and travels.
