Scope and Contents Opening in 1942 as Greenville Army Air Base near Greenville, S.C., it was a bomber training base. GAAB was used by Tactical Air Command after 1945 and renamed Greenville Air Force Base with establishment of the U.S. Air Force in 1947. It was renamed again to Donaldson Air Force Base in 1951.
