Scope and Contents The C.E. Frazer Clark collection of Nathaniel Hawthorne contains both primary and secondary materials gathered or produced by Clark (1926-1975) during his time studying the author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1804, Hawthorne is famous for short stories such as ‘Young Goodman Brown’ and the novels The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables.
