Rembert Dennis was one of the most influential legislators of his time. His career spanned almost fifty years in the South Carolina House of Representatives (Berkeley County), 1939-1942, and the South Carolina Senate, 1943-1988.

John Drummond Papers
John Drummond represented the Greenwood area in the South Carolina Senate for more than forty years, including service as president pro tempore, before retiring in 2008. These papers contain material relating to this public service career and also include material on Drummond's stint as a World War II fighter pilot and his reunions with other veterans from his air group.
J. Drake Edens, Jr. Papers
J. Drake Edens is recognized by many as the father of the modern Republican Party in South Carolina. He campaigned for Charles E. Boineau, Jr., William D. Workman, Jr., Barry Goldwater, Albert Watson, and Richard Nixon. He served as chair of the Republican Party of South Carolina, 1963-1965, and Republican National Committeeman for South Carolina, 1965-1972.
Charles Traynor “Bud” Ferillo, Jr. Papers
This small collection consists primarily of papers and clippings concerning Ferillo's campaign work for Democratic candidates in the 1960s and 1970s, but also includes material from the 1950s through 2016.
Allard Henry Gasque Papers
Allard H. Gasque represented the 6th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1923-1938. This collection is comprised chiefly of constituent correspondence which reveals a great deal about life in South Carolina during the Depression, particularly in regard to the politics of the time. Gasque also served as Superintendent of Education, Florence County, 1902-1923, and on the Democratic State Executive Committee, 1912-1920.

Butler Black Hare Papers
Butler Hare served South Carolina's 2nd District, 1925-1933, and 3rd District, 1939-1947, in the U.S. House of Representatives. As chairman of the House Insular Affairs Committee, 1931-1933, he authored the Philippine Independence Act, which began the process of granting independence to the Philippines, a United States possession since 1898.
