League of Women Voters of Columbia/Richland County Papers
The League of Women Voters of Columbia/Richland County (S.C.) was organized as a provisional league in 1947, and recognized as a local league in 1950, one year after the recognition of the Charleston and Spartanburg leagues. These three local organizations formed the nucleus of the state League. The League is a non-partisan organization that encourages citizens to learn about and become active in national, state, and local government.
Ann Yarborough "Tunky" Riley Papers
Ann Osteen Yarborough Riley served as South Carolina's First Lady from 1979 until 1987. She was known not only for her gracious hospitality and warmth, but for her work toward improving South Carolina's educational system and her active involvement in the Governor's Mansion renovations.
WIS-TV news collection
This collection contains outtake footage shot by the news crews of Columbia, South Carolina's NBC affiliate from 1959 to 1980. It includes 16mm color and black and white films, both sound and silent, documenting people, events, and the political and cultural history of South Carolina. The collection also contains teleprompter scripts for broadcasts dating from 1963-1979.
