Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of correspondence sent from Charles Brandt to his family during World War II, family photographs, various Americana, legal and governmental documents, military orders and correspondence, and awards and recognitions. Photographs are often glued in collages. The majority of this collection is fine to be handled, but some of the correspondence and albums are crumbling and therefore care is needed when handling these objects.

Scope and Contents This collection of photographs highlights the family of Charles Stevens Dwight (1834-9121) of Somerset Plantation in Berkeley County, S.C. Dwight worked as an engineer, mainly for railroad projects. He served in the Confederate Army and after the war worked in British Honduras (now Belize). He returned to South Carolina in 1869 and settled in Winnsboro, Fairfield County, where he died and is buried. He married Maria Louisa Gaillard (1847-1928), and they had five children:...

Collection of Joseph Heller manuscript and speeches
