Grady L. Patterson, Jr. Papers

Abstract Patterson served as South Carolina State Treasurer for thirty-six years, November 1966 to 1994 and 1998 to 2007 when he retired. The Patterson Papers, less than one linear foot of material, 1990 to 2009, consist chiefly of speeches but also include general papers, clippings, and photographs.

Scope and Contents The Guild of South Carolina Artists was organized in 1950 and incorporated in 1969. The primary purpose of the organization was to promote, encourage and foster the preservation and development of the visual arts in South Carolina. Membership was open to artists born in or residing South Carolina. The non-profit Guild was funded by membership dues, aid from corporate sponsors and a grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission. Harry Molyneux King Photographs

Scope and Contents Photographs taken while Private Harry Molyneux King (b. 1877) trained at Camp Fornance (Columbia, S.C.) with his unit, 1st Rhode Island Volunteers, November 1898 and 30 March 1899. King purchased his “Wizard” camera in December 1898 for $15. Most are identified by King and numbered as indicated. King was born in Brooklyn, NY but grew up in East Greenwich, RI.
